USTA Leagues

Many AVAC tennis members participate in USTA League play. It's a great way to get to know other members and be involved in play that is both competitive and fun! Depending on your age group, you may be able to play in one or more leagues at any time of the year.

AVAC charges a $20 administrative fee for each team you play on.

JOIN A TEAM PLAYING NOW

You may be able to join a team in a league that has already started its season. Contact the AVAC USTA Coordinator, Mary Lehner at [email protected], to see if this is possible.

SIGN UP FOR THE NEXT SEASON

The summer league will play from mid-June through August. (See the calendar below for league details.)

AVAC registration for this league will be from April 15 through May 3. Late registrants are eligible to play on any team that still has room, but will be charged a $20 late fee unless a team is actively seeking more players.

Mary worked at IBM for 34 years as a software developer, but always maintained a life in the "parallel universe" of physical activity. She ran a Karate school with her husband for 25 years, ran competitive corporate track with IBM, played traditional Japanese drums with the San Jose Taiko performance group, and rode her own Harley across the US.

Mary joined AVAC in 2002 to start swimming as a lower impact activity. But she soon discovered the social and competitive pleasure of playing on AVAC tennis teams. In 2015 she took on the job she now loves of coordinating the USTA teams at AVAC. Mary supplements her tennis with Pilates 2-3 times per week for all-round strength and flexibility.
